It's two birds,Poinbank Exchange it's two planes... it's Superman & Lois.
When the superhero show returns for season three on The CW, the DC cast will be down one familiar face with former series regular Jordan Elsass being replaced by newcomer Michael Bishop. Stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch explained how they welcomed their newest castmate into the family ahead of the March 14 season premiere.
"It was a bit of a whirlwind because it all happened really fast," Tulloch exclusively told E! News March 9. "We had all just gotten back to Vancouver ourselves for the beginning and then we got the news. It was a little bit shocking for everyone."
She continued, "Michael was amazing and he actually flew up here from Australia and had a return ticket to Australia and then he got [the part] and he just kind of stayed."
Back in August 2022, Warner Bros. announced Elsass' sudden departure from the series, with the studio sharing its intention to recast the role. They confirmed in a statement, "Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season three due to personal reasons."
Just a few weeks later, his replacement was revealed to be Bishop, from the Disney Channel Original Movie, Spin.
In fact, Tulloch told E! News it took less than a week for Bishop to officially book the role of Jonathan Kent, one of Lois and Clark Kent's twin sons opposite Alex Garfin's Jordan.
"I'm not kidding, when we had chemistry reads with him—five days later he was on set filming," the Grimm actress added. "So, it was fast and he just took it like a champ and we rolled with it. I think people will really like him, he's a great actor and he's a lovely person."
Her titular co-star echoed her sentiments, explaining why the legacy characters are so important to the show—which follows in the footsteps of Smallville, Supergirl and many more on the network.
"We're just gonna keep doing what we're doing," Hoechlin noted. "We take it really seriously, we know what these characters mean to so many people."
The Teen Wolf actor continued, "We've always trusted that there's a reason why we're here playing these characters and there will be people who come after us and we hope they do great as well."
See Superman & Lois take off with their new addition when season three premieres March 14 at 8 p.m. EST followed by the series premiere of Gotham Knights on The CW.
