Police responded to a shooting in Northeast D.C. at around 6 p.m. in the Carver Langston neighborhood and found multiple people with gunshot wounds, Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith said at a press briefing Wednesday.
Smith said a man was pronounced dead at the scene, a 9-year-old boy, a woman and two men were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The police chief added that a little later, a 12-year-old boy also arrived at a local hospital.

Smith, said police will investigate and work to address gun violence in the city and remove illegal weapons from the streets.
